Rukus Regardless- Code Of Practice Vol.1

March 4th, 2006

Produced entirely by the incredible Cappo, this debut album is a solid collection of tracks with a quite diverse range of atmosphere’s and energy levels. ‘Liars’ is a string based number which is really chilled and shows the Nottingham based rapper to be a passionate and hungry artist. ‘Ethos’ is of a fairly dramatic vibe whilst ‘Certified’ is an album highlight. Its beat is hard and rusty and gets the head banging nicely, whilst the vocals show Rukus Regardless more impressively than many other points of the release.

The rapper shows admirable restraint by not rhyming over the very nice soul flavoured beat of ‘Spectator’ whilst ‘Ambush’, one of the album’s weaker tracks, strangely concludes the track list. What’s nice about the release is that, similarly to Cappo and Zero Theory’s ‘The Get Out’ series, the beats sound really nice whilst at the same time having a quite raw and ‘bedroom studio’ vibe about them. That seems to be the ethics of the new Under The Cap Productions label which with Cappo’s talent involved, is almost certain to provide us with a lot of greatness.
