GOSSIP A dentist commuting into work this past Thursday on the 307 bus of Enfield/Barnet told our source that his American cousin recently treated Eminem protégé 50 Cent, who complained of having too many teeth. In total the dentist had to move fourteen before 50 could start talking properly and stop looking like a horse.

BOOKWORM Patrick Neate recently wrote an article in London’s Evening Standard newspaper about the origins of hiphop and how big it now is. Published by Bloomsbury this week comes ‘Where You’re At; Notes From The Frontline Of A HipHop Planet’.

GANG STARR It’s finally dropping, so buy it. The first single featuring Jada Kiss is out now and has a great video to support it.

IT’S LUDACRIS Several times of late, the rapper Ludacris has made the news with his lyrics which people seem to be opposing as if he was Eminem or something. First Pepsi and now the general public of an American neighbourhood. Isn’t it about time that people be used to less dignified use of language in Urban music. It’s a tired issue that no young person gives a damm about.

Dan Greenpeace @ Fabric, London
Masta Ace @ Manchester
Blackalicious @ Swindon
Mobb Deep @ Newcastle

Tech N9ne ‘It’s Alive’- A great up beat track showcasing incredible vocal skills and quality production
Snoop Dogg ‘Outro’- This is the final track from Snoop’s first full mix tape, featuring vocals by the late Marvin Gaye. By the way, the whole mix tape is better than all the recent full albums.
Braintax And Friends ‘Arrest The President’- Music to my ears, UK artists staying focused and conscious.

‘The Flyest’ by Nas and Pharrel, ‘Whup Whup’ by Big Gipp, ‘How I Could Just Kill A Man’ by Young Zee, ‘Any Type Of Way’ by Big Daddy Kane.
Royce Da 5’9 ‘Heartbeat’- I really regret that he didn’t blow up to the extent he should have. This Kayne West track show’s just how decent this artist is.

You know the deal, each month we drop some words from a dope verse. This time we’re rewinding to a much slept on LP, ‘Masquerade’ by Wyclef Jean. Don’t write him off just because you can’t deal with how much talent he has:

“What’s this I hear, y’all wanna take my spot? You got a better chance putting a gorilla in a headlock I’m too focused, I can see through your lens You ain’t a G, just a wanna be, Kingpin said… “The next time, y’all wanna pay for protection I suggest that you hit up the Haitian Sicilians”

DEAD PREZ According to Roots drummer Questlove on the okayplayer message boards, DP are about to sign to a major label, it’s going to be very high profile, controversial and it’s happening very soon!

DMX The man/dog’s final album previously slated as being called ‘It’s Not A Game’ is now to be called ‘Grand Champ’. The rapper/actor who’s recently featured in the films ‘Cradle To The Grave’ (Great!) and ‘Romeo Must Die (Not as great) drops the album this September on Def Jam
