Underground Alliance- Basementality

August 9th, 2004

The six track 'Basementality EP' by Underground Alliance is a solid, quality release comprised of a variety of flavours when it comes to both the production and featuring vocals. It all begins with 'Sometimes' produced by Otis of Raw Dog Productions which has a chorus of a slight Erikah Badu vibe over a light bouncy beat. 'Dukes Of Hazzard features Doobie as well as Wyt-fang who also handles the boards. The beat has a variety of percussion sounds which makes for an enjoyable listen. The vocals showcase personality and character and the hook is nicely catchy. 'Who I Be' is produced by The Beat Bickies and features Doobie alongside Skinnyman. Both verses are good and the subject matter reveals the rappers choice to present themselves in whatever light they so wish with lines such as 'I only show you what I want you to see. Do you really think you're going to get to see the dark side of me?'. The last track 'Slags' is produced by Wyt-Fang who is joined on the mic by Skrein. The lyrical content will no doubt be something a lot will relate to, as well as being the cause for a nice session of giggles. The beat is of a good repetitive loop and the flow is of a story telling nature. Instrumentals of 'Sometimes' and 'Who I Be' are included. For those wanting a small collection of a variety of enjoyable sounds, this could possible be what they're after. The EP is available at headnod.co.uk
