The Forum in Kentish Town last night was the stage upon which Jurassic 5 once again satisfied a sell out London crowd with two DJ sets by Cut Chemist and DJ Nu-mark, all the classic album tracks and the new Charli 2na and Nu-Mark single, and finally a round of freestyles which last minute special guests Roots Manuva and Iriscience from Dilated Peoples joined in on. The crowd were really up for this, and so the devotion of the four MC's on stage was that much stronger, one commenting that 'they're acting like this is our first trip out here'. There were so many highlights and moments of extreme reaction from the very lively and supportive sell out crowd that it's hard to pick out a few to mention, be it the deafening cheers every time fan favourite 2na prompted them to scream at the word 'London' or as the two highly skilled DJ's at the back of the stage began to spin album favourites which spanned the entire J5 discography such as 'Concrete Schoolyard', 'Quality Control' and 'A Day at The Races' which saw energy levels get that little bit wilder as the four MC's mimed out a motorcycle ride on the stage. Touching moments came towards the end of the performance when the music had stopped, the lights had got brighter and the group members ear pieces taken away from the stage crew. They stood staring out into the sea of fans looking genuinely moved and emotional at the mass of appreciation and respect being shouted their way. In return, it was the usual meet and greet at the front of the barrier, signing anything from old muddy trainers, their own sweaty towels some cheeky fans had managed to swipe from the stage or 2 of my J5 records. If the guys keep putting performances like this in whenever they pass through London, the public demand will surely determine a two or three night run of shows, and I'll be at everyone, because they guarantee quality music, crowd interaction, class, and a big corny smile on my face for an entire three hours.
