Verb T & The Last Skeptik – Broken Window

August 27th, 2007

If you find yourself in the UK Hiphop mood this summer, 'Broken Window' rapped by Verb T and produced by The Last Skeptik is most probably you're best bet. It's what people have come to expect of UK Hiphop in regards to the vibe, with solid beats and rhymes which maintain the scene's underground, sleepy head jerking nods. It doesn't provide listeners with anything fresher than is already available, and that's unlikely to have been the objective. Instead, there's a sense of going through the motions, but they're gone through well.

Highlight tracks are 'Winterland' featuring Syanyde and Jehst for it's synth driven beat which supports tight guest appearances, and 'Fire Reigns' which features Kashmere, simply for the guest's incredible voice, flow and subject matter. Other tracks are a bit too relaxed to spark any positive emotion in the ears listening, mainly due to the consistently slow tempo's and the mondaine thoughts within the lyrics. This one's out through Silent Soundz now.
